WW and Apple talks iCar

August 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Ipod, iPhone and now iCar. Does Apple intend to put an ‘i’ in every word. According to a post at CNET, Apple and Volkswagen has been talking with each other about something called an integration system for cars. Further specifications are not known but it has already been named iCar over the net.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple and Martin Winterkorn, chairman of Audi - Audi own Volkswagen - met to discuss some ideas, not necessarily future plans, down in California, U.S.

“We wouldn’t comment on rumors and speculation,” said Tom Neumyar, senior manager for iPod and iTunes at Apple. Off course this is not a “no” so they might be up to something.

Frank Weith, technical strategy manager for Volkswagen of America, said this an interview last week:

“I look at the vehicle as being static in a sense where you can create an environment where the vehicle can be connected to your home system. You can download your iTunes. We have a navigation companion on our Web site. You can download your trip, where you’re going and, eventually, depending on the access, to download a movie. You can create the environment that you would like to have but make it static, download a week of your Internet,”

Obviously they have some interesting ideas and we’re looking forward to it.
