Smartphones using Linux is not something that’s news. It’s been around for a while although in a limited amount. ABI Research thinks that is about to change. They recently predicted that the amount of Linux phones is about to increase dramatically over the next years. In fact they believe that in 2012 there will be a total of 331 million phones using it.
Those numbers are incredibly and definitely good news for a Linux lover like myself. One who doesn’t like this prediction is Symbian which owns about 72 % of the market today. Symbian is biggest in Europe with 90 % but in Japan, Linux has already taken over 30 %.
ABI Research predicts 30 % of the total market will be using Linux smartphones in 2012.
I can’t wait for more Linux based phones to come to Sweden so I can buy them.
