Red Hat is red hot and lands big customers

September 7th, 2007 · No Comments

Red Hat has again made huge deals with it’s very successful Red Hat Enterprise Linux server. This week two major deals settled and the people at Red Hat should be more than happy.

The French Ministry for Education have migrated the massive amount of 2,500 servers to Red Hat. The Ministry reportedly made the choice because they wanted to invest in open-source and free itself from vendor lock-in. The other deal was with FASS.se, which is the main medicines portal run by the LIF (Swedish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry). They have changed their OS from Sun Solaris to Red Hat and will now have 40 percent in cost savings due to the migration.

Per Manell, LIF’s chief technology officer recently stated:“Our main reason for migrating to Red Hat Enterprise Linux was our recognition of a need for making FASS.se’s operations more efficient. During our evaluations, Red Hat Enterprise Linux became the obvious alternative because of the cost savings and increased performance delivered by the solution. It was ultimately an easy decision to select Red Hat solutions and migrate all of our servers to RHEL.”
